Why We Started Threal International
Threal International (Threal ITL) didn't start as a side hustle or a quick business idea. It started from an observation. Over time, we noticed that many businesses in Kenya rely on generic websites — often built using pre-made templates from platforms like WordPress or similar site builders. While these solutions offer powerful potential, that potential is locked behind expensive plugins and configurations. The prevailing template-and-launch model creates a critical strategic gap. This standardized approach prioritizes initial ease and cost over the technical eexecution required for growth resulting in sites that underperform in the areas that matter most, that is:
- User Experience & Conversion: Generic layouts fail to guide visitors strategically toward business goals.
- Performance & Core Metrics: Bloated code and poor hosting devastate load times, bounce rates, and engagement.
- Search Engine Visibility: Search engines usually penalize generic websites which are slow, unstructured, and lacking in technical and foundational SEO, making them invisible.
- Mobile Responsiveness: Designs are often not adapted for the mobile-first majority.
- Security & Reliability: Standard setups are vulnerable and lack the robustness for secure, scalable operations.
The result is websites that exist, but don't truly serve the business or its customers. For many Kenyans, researching products or shopping online is still frustrating. Business websites are often outdated, incomplete, slow, or simply not working as intended. In some cases, businesses don’t have an online presence at all.
That gap is what pushed us to start Threal ITL.
With backgrounds in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, security, and technology risk management, we saw an opportunity to do things differently. Not by reinventing the wheel, but by applying the same standards used in well-built web applications to everyday business websites.
